The Friends of the Barnwell are pleased to announce Susan McNeill, RN-PFS, Wellness Consultant is presenting a workshop on May 21, 2012 from 10am until 12pm at the Barnwell Garden & Art Center, 601 Clyde Fant Parkway, Shreveport, Louisiana. 

The workshop fee of $10 per person includes samples of healthy nutrition and all workshop materials.

SPAR and Rock Solid open house at Bill Cockrell and David Raines pools

Shreveport Public Assembly & Recreation (SPAR) and Rock Solid Sports will host an open house at the Bill Cockrell Park swimming pool on Saturday, May 12, 2012 from 1:00 - 3:00pm and at David Raines swimming pool of Sunday, May 13 from 2:00 – 4:00pm.

During the open house, Shreveport Fire Department will offer a water safety seminar, followed by open swimming for the general public.

2012 Fit for Life challenge this weekend, May 12

The Fit for Life Sports Weekend takes place May 12-13 and will feature more than 20,000 athletes from around the world competing in a variety of sporting events throughout Shreveport and Bossier.  

Bodybuilding, strongman competitions and arm wrestling are just a few of the varying athletes and sports you will see competing at the Shreveport Convention Center.  

Admission is $20 per person at the Shreveport Convention Center on Saturday, May 12 and will give spectators access to all events throughout the day.

Newton Smith teacher awarded $250 grant

Holiday Lanes Bowling presented a check for $250 to 6th grade teacher, Sandra Fuller. 

Mrs. Fuller teaches at Newton Smith in Shreveport.

The grant was part of the company's Bowling to Teachers Classroom Supply grant  program.
