Caddo Sheriff offers "First Gun Course” for kids

Registration is currently underway for children ages 8 to 12 to participate in the Caddo Sheriff’s Office "First Gun Course." 

The 4-hour class will be offered from 8 a.m. until noon on December 15 and January 5.  All classes will be held at the Sheriff's Regional Law Enforcement Training Academy, 15639 Highway One South.

CHRISTUS Sutton Children’s Medical Center is once again calling all “Miracle Babies,” who have overcome the odds of prematurity and developmental problems in the hospital’s Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) for the annual NICU Christmas Reunion. 

The event will be from 2 to 4 p.m. on Sunday, December 9 in the Schumpert cafeteria at One St. Mary Place. This will be the 34th annual reunion for the nurses, physicians, parents and patients.

Holiday Lanes in Bossier City has joined the nationwide fundraising effort Strikes for Special Olympics, which is part of the Law Enforcement Torch Run (LETR) campaign.

The event will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 8 at Holiday Lanes, 3316 Old Minden Road in Bossier City.

New Christmas tour to showcase historic Shreveport homes

Step-on tour guide Jan Pettiet recently announced the addition of Candlelight Christmas Tours, a guided tour featuring two of Shreveport’s most historic homes: the Logan Mansion and the Davis Homeplace.

The tours, scheduled for 6 to 8:30 p.m., Dec. 6, 7, 13 and 14, will depart from the overlook parking lot in downtown Shreveport’s Festival Plaza. Participants will ride on a shuttle provided by A-1 Charter Service. Tickets are $20 per person, and they can be purchased online by going to yesterdayslady.eventbrite.com.

Big band jazz concert and clinic set

The American Federation of Musicians, Local 116, and the Band House Music Store are presenting a big band jazz concert and clinic on Tuesday, Nov. 27, at Parkway High School.

Admission is free to students and $5.00 for adults. The band will be comprised of local musicians along with a number of regionally and nationally known clinicians and performers.
