SPAR midnight basketball league begins playoffs

The Summer Midnight Basketball League for girls, boys and young adults is offering free admission to playoff games beginning Monday, and encourages the public to attend.

The playoffs run from Monday, July 18, Tuesday, andThursday with the Champion games on Saturday, 23.

Monday the games will be held at at 7:00 p.m. at both the Southern Hills Community Center and Airport Park Community Center. Tuesday the will be held at Airport Park Community Center and A.B. Palmer Community Center. Thursday’s games will be held at the A.B.

Pajama burning man finds himself behind bars

A Shreveport man is behind bars for damaging his former girlfriends property, including burning her pajamas.

Bossier Sheriff Larry Deen says Cluren James Cohn, III, 26, of the 7100 block of Burlingame Street was arrested Thursday for damaging the property of his former girlfriend.

Deen reports that Cohn went to a former girlfriend’s residence in the 200 block of Whispering Pines in Haughton and cut the sofa, loveseat, chair, and bed. He then broke several items in the home.

Cohn also admitted to burning a pair of pajamas that he had bought for the victim.

Guy's Academy in the Shreve City Shopping Center will have its 3rd Annual Free Haircuts for school-age children in grades K-12. The free haircuts will be on August 2, 3 & 4 and on August 9, 10, & 11. Also from August 2-31, anyone who donates unopened school supplies will be entered into a drawing for a $50 gift certificate (1 entry per visit). Boil advisory canceled for North Shreveport subdivision

The Eagle Water System has rescinded a boil advisory for the Springlake Mobile Home Park in North Shreveport. The advisory had been put in place because of a break in the water main. The water system had to be shut down for a short period of time on Monday to make the needed repairs. This advisory was only for Eagle Water customers who live in the Springlake Mobile Home Park subdivision.

Shreveport Police looking for suspects in store armed robbery

Shreveport Police are aksing for your help in finding the two suspects who robbed a west Shreveport convenience store Tuesday night.

Just after 9:30 p.m. on July 12, police got a call about an armed robbery at the Quik Stop in the 3000 block of Greenwood Road. Employees told police as they were closing for the night and walking out of the business, they were approached by two male suspects, one of whom was reportedly armed with a handgun.
