Hot Jazz on the Red coming back to the Barnwell in April | Arts & Culture

The Friends of the Barnwell presents their annual free “Hot Jazz on the Red Concert Series”, sponsored by Eldorado Resort Casino Shreveport. Bring your lawn chair, blanket, picnic basket or sit with friends at one of our pre-set tables while relax on the patio of the Barnwell Garden & Art Center to the sounds of HOT Jazz.

The event will be held Thursday's in April, beginning April 19th through June 14th. The concerts will be from 6 p.m. - 8 p.m., organizers said.

In addition to the annual concert; featured acrylic art pieces from Caddo, Bossier and Private schools, sponsored with a grant from AEP Southwestern Electric Power Company.  Classes received their canvas and a check for their expenses to use towards the production of their pieces.  All entries are due by May 1, 2012 and judged on May 3, 2012, with the award presentation on Sunday, May 6, 1012.  The entries will hang in our Corridor Gallery until June 24, 2012.

“Hot Jazz on the Red” attendees move and groove to smooth jazz often combined with a touch of the blues, and sweet jazz.  The Friends will offer a cash bar that will serve both alcoholic & non-alcoholic beverages.

The hours of the Barnwell Garden and Art Center are Tuesday through Friday 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.; Saturday, 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.; and Sunday from 1:00 p.m. 5:00 p.m.  The Barnwell will stay open from 10:00 a.m. – 8:30 p.m. on concert dates. Admission to the Barnwell Center and “Hot Jazz on the Red” is free. 

The Barnwell Center is located at 601 Clyde Fant Parkway adjacent to Riverview Park, and next to Eldorado Resort Casino.
