Sign up for annual shoe giveaway starts July 16 | Community Spirit

The 12th Annual Free Back To School Shoe Giveaway will come to the west Shreveport Wal-Mart on Saturday, August 11.

Folks wanting to take part in the giveaway will need to register first. The sign-up dates and times are:

• Monday, July 16 at 3709 Greenwood Road
• Tuesday, July 17 at 6363 Hearne Ave.
• Thursday, July 19 at 1867 Nelson Street

The time for all registrations is from 3:30 - 6:30 p.m.

The giveaway itself will be at the Wal-Mart near Pines Road (6235 West Port Ave.) from 9:30 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.

In a release from Louisiana House Representative Barbara Norton, she said, "For the past several years we've been successfully able to match over 16,000 pairs of new shoes with a student.  It is so important that we continue to reach out to touch those who are less fortunate than others, students in Pre-K thru 12th grade."
