Shreveport getting ready for Youth Baseball | Community Spirit

The Athletic Department for Shreveport Public Assembly and Recreation (SPAR) is getting ready for the upcoming baseball season.
There will be leagues for Youth T-Ball, Machine Pitch, Softball and Baseball. They're open to all children between the ages of 4 - 10-years-old. The age cut-off is March 31. Ball play will begin on Monday, April 13.
An organizational meeting has been scheduled for 6 p.m. on Wednesday, February 13 at Wildwood Park, 7401 Jewella Avenue. Interested volunteer coaches, parents and youth participants should attend for general information about the league. Team registration deadline is on Friday, March 15. Players have until Monday, April 8 to register for a team.
There were a total of 18 teams participating in the 2012 league which includes seven 4-6 year old T-Ball teams, three 7-8 year old Machine Pitch teams, five 9-10 year old Machine Pitch teams, and three 11-12 year old baseball teams.
The SPAR Youth Baseball League will play a 6-8 games season with T-Ball on Tuesdays at Southern Hills and baseball on Thursdays at Cargill Sports Complex. Schedules and times can be viewed at www.mySPAR.org. Teams will conclude the season with the Annual Hot Dog Social sponsored by SPAR Athletics.
