Bizcamp students to host market place at Louisiana Boardwalk

James K Elrod BizCamp (BizCamp) will be hosting a market place at the Louisiana Boardwalk from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Thursday, June 27. Students from the camp will advertise and sell a variety of products based on the type of business they have created during the two weeks at BizCamp. The market place will be located in the open corridor underneath the Texas St. bridge.

The Salvation Army’s Women and Children’s Shelter, now known as Carla’s Haven, will be dedicated to the memory of the late Carla Lenert Boyd, a dear community supporter of The Salvation Army and an advocate for helping people in need.

The Salvation Army will unveil a revamped Carla’s Haven at Noon on Tuesday at The Salvation Army Merkle Center of Hope, 200 East Stoner Ave. in Shreveport. This event is free and open to the public.

SPAR begins its annual Summer Youth Midnight Basketball League from June 3 to July 31 for girls and boys ages 10-24.

More than 50 teams will participate this summer. The fundamental purpose of this league is to give youth and young adults an opportunity to learn and athletically compete in a supervised safe environment during the summer evenings.
